Content - The content is the most important aspect of the site and needs to be given a great deal of consideration. We suggest that you sort out the majority of the content prior to commencement of design as this helps to provide us with an understanding of your business. It is also very helpful if much of this information is available when we start discussions about your site before we have had a chance to give any costings. We advise that your website has plenty of relevant content, as this helps in ensuring your website is well ranked in the search engines. An existing company website or brochure is a great place to start. The home page of your site is of particular importance as this is normally the first page seen by the reader and also by the search engines.
Images - You will need a copy of any images that you wish to be included on your website. These are best provided in digital format, we can accept jpg, png and most other digital formats. This may be of your products, your company logo or general photographs. You must remember that all photographs that you provide should be your own copyright or are being provided with the permission of the copyright owner. There are potential expensive copyright issues if you breach someone’s copyright. If required, we can often help with photography should you need your products or premises photographed.
Search Engine Optimisation - This is known in the trade by its acronym SEO. This means that the structure of your website and the text is placed on each page so that a search engine knows exactly what your website is all about. Without this, your site is unlikely to be found and will rarely gain any sales. There are no shortcuts to success in this important area for having a successful web presence. It comes down to our knowledge of the rules and knowing what not to do as much as knowing all the things that you can do. Many web companies state that they can guarantee you top placing in the search engines but you should beware of such claims. Look at Google for example, the front page of any search has 10 results. There are millions of websites on the internet, they cannot all be on the front page. We do know the rules and we stick to them whenever we design a website.
